Case Studies : 'Hulk' - Private Screening
Both the clients and delegates were overwhelmed with the success of the evening.

Event Brief
The brief came via a telephone call. Our client asked us “Where can we take 200 technical experts, mainly blokes, to relax after a hard day of conferencing we want something they’ll really enjoy”

The Thinking
The audience profile immediately led us into thinking of something in the scientific arena, tapping into their fascination with all things technical, theoretical and abstract. They are not a group who enjoy too much networking and small talk so we needed to find a form of entertainment that clicked with them, an event they would have chosen to go to themselves. On a practical note, we also wanted something that would finish early enough to allow them a good night rest before another full day of conferencing.

The Event
Opening night at the movies and the first opportunity to see the much anticipated Ang Lee film ‘The Hulk’, in our own private 350-seater cinema at Hoyts, George Street.

The Execution
The Forum Group negotiated with the Hoyts to use a back door entrance corridor adjacent to the cinema as private access for our guests something that hadn’t been done before at this venue. Lighting, music and dry ice were used was to create a green tunnel effect along the corridor that drew people towards a giant hulk figure. From here they entered the function area which was washed with green light, broken up by lava lamp and giant green Microsoft gobo logo. Guests were then greeted by ‘scientists’, who offered them a ‘Gamma Slamma’ cocktail served in a test tube. ‘Hulk’ inspired food was offered right down to the green peppermint choc tops. Projections of Microsoft logos branded the cinema screen and after a short welcome from the Conference host we cued the movie.

The Outcome
Both the clients and delegates were overwhelmed with the success of the evening a talking point of the next days Conference. Not only did they get the opportunity to be one of the first in Australia to see the film but were able to relax and enjoy a well timed event of real appeal to them.
